The Chevy Trucks 150 was a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series car race , which was held from 1995 to 1998 at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale , Arizona . It was the first Craftsman Truck Series race of the 1995 season and thus the first ever race in the Craftsman Truck Series. Mike Skinner won this first race, which was only 80 laps long. In the 1996 season , the race distance was extended so that 186 miles had to be completed. That corresponds to about 300 kilometers, hence the name "Chevrolet Desert Star 300". In 1997 the race distance was shortened again. There were only 150 miles and laps to drive. From the 1999 season onwards , there was only one race per season on the Phoenix International Raceway, which is now known as the Lucas Oil 150 .
