Lists on the subject |
The CheyTac M200 Intervention is a USA-made heavy sniper rifle by the manufacturer CheyTac LLC . It fires the caliber .408 CheyTac or .375 CheyTac. With a range of up to 2,300 meters, the Intervention is one of the most powerful anti-personnel sniper rifles currently available. Technically, it is based on the EDM Arms Windrunner model .
history
The idea behind the weapon is to be able to fight soft targets at the greatest possible distance with moderate weight and dimensions of the overall system . To achieve this goal, the .408 Chey Tac cartridge was developed. The size of the bullet lies between the .50 BMG and the .338 Lapua Magnum and is very aerodynamic, so that it moves at supersonic speed beyond the 2000 m limit.
The original CheyTac Intervention M-100 rifle is based on the Windrunner .50 caliber from EDM Arms, while the M-200 still follows the Windrunner design with modifications.
technology
The CheyTac Intervention M-200 is a Kammerstängelrepetierer with extendable shoulder support. The barrel is free-swinging, fluted and can be quickly removed for changing or for transport. A bipod can be attached to the weapon housing; to increase the stability it is mounted on the top of the housing. The telescopic buttstock contains an additional foldable leg so that the weapon can be placed on the ground. The muzzle brake can be replaced by a silencer.
Long Range Rifle System (LRRS)
The Intervention M-200 is part of the Long Range Rifle System (LRRS) offered by CheyTac , which consists of a ballistic computer (civilian PDA with CheyTac software), the Kestrel 4000 Pocket Weather Tracker , a Vector IV binoculars with laser rangefinder, Nightforce -NXS-5.5-22 × 56 rifle scope and a muzzle brake of the type PGRS-1 or a silencer from OPS INC. A Picatinny rail can be attached to the rifle scope, which can accommodate a laser sight.
The data from the laser rangefinder and the Kestrel 4000 weather station are entered into the PDA, which calculates the lead point for the shooter, which can be set on the telescopic sight by adjusting the reticle .
The data tables of the PDA for the projectile trajectory were created with a Weibel 1000e Doppler radar in the Yuma Proving Grounds and poured into an algorithm . The data tables are also available in printed form.
