Chiba-gun

Chiba ( Japanese 千葉 郡 Chiba-gun ) was the eponymous district of Chiba ( Chiba-ken ) and existed until 1967, when the last community became independent. Chiba comprised most of today's Chiba ( Chiba-shi ) , the seat of the prefectural administration of Chiba and the seat of the district administration of Chiba until the actual abolition in 1923/26, the entire current urban area of Narashino and parts of the present-day communities of Funabashi and Yachiyo . Chiba originally belonged to Shimousa , in the late Edo period it was mainly divided between the shogunate domain and the principalities of Sakura , Oyumi and Nagatoro , in / immediately after the Meiji Restoration it thus extended into different prefectures and principalities, then it belonged to the Abolition of the principalities and the first consolidation of the prefectures up to the establishment of Chiba in 1873 completely to Inba . In 1889 with the introduction of the modern parishes , Chiba was divided into one city and 17 villages .
