Narashino ( Japanese 習 志 野 市 , -shi ) is a city in Chiba Prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan .

Narashino is east of Funabashi and west of Chiba on Tokyo Bay .
history
On June 3, 1903 , the village of Tsudanuma ( 津 田 沼 村 , -mura ) was raised to the community ( Machi ) Tsudanuma ( 津 田 沼 町 , -machi ). During the Russo-Japanese War , 11,791 prisoners were placed at the local Narashino military training area. From September 1915 to the turn of the year 1919/20 there was a prisoner of war camp with around 890 Germans from Tsingtau . On August 1, 1954 , the community of Tsudanuma was renamed Narashino ( 習 志 野 町 ) and received town charter on the same day.
