Isumi ( Japanese い す み 市 , -shi ) is a city in Chiba Prefecture in the east of Honshū , the main island of Japan .

The city is located east of Tokyo on the Bōsō peninsula on the Pacific .

history

The city of Isumi was created on December 5, 2005 from the amalgamation of the communities Isumi ( 夷 隅 町 , -machi ), Misaki ( 岬 町 , -machi ) and Ōhara ( 大 原 町 , -machi ) in Isumi County .
