Tōnoshō ( Japanese 東庄 町 , - machi ) is a small town in Katori-gun in Chiba Prefecture in Japan .

history

On August 1, 1907, the Machi Sasagawa ( 笹 川 町 , -machi ) was created from the merger of the Mura Sasagawa ( 笹 川村 , -mura ) and Tōjō ( 東城 村 , -mura ). On July 4, 1945, a resident died in an attack by a P-51 . On July 20, 1955, the Machi Sasagawa and the Mura Jindai ( 神 代 村 , -mura ) and Tachibana ( 橘 村 , -mura ) merged to form Machi Tōnoshō.
