Chicheng (Pengxi)

Chicheng ( 赤 城镇 , Chìchéng Zhèn ) is a large municipality in the southwest of the People's Republic of China . It belongs to the administrative area of Pengxi County , which in turn is subordinate to the prefecture -level city of Suining in Sichuan Province . Chicheng covers an area of ​​90.8 square kilometers and has 92,700 residents. Chicheng has been the political, economic and cultural center of Pengxi since the Tang Dynasty .

Chicheng is located on the banks of the Zhixi He (芝 溪河) at the foot of the Shizi Shan (狮子山) halfway between Suining and Nanchong . The large community lies at an altitude of 350 meters.

The large municipality is divided into 18 administrative villages and 10 communities .

Agriculture is the largest industry in Chicheng. The agricultural area is 35,500 hectares, the main products are rice, wheat, corn, sweet potatoes, rape, peanuts, soy, vegetables, herbs for traditional Chinese medicine, as well as silkworms, pork, rabbit and poultry meat. In 2016, numerous plantations were established as part of a program to improve agricultural structures: 410 hectares of lemons in the village of Zhangxing (长兴 村), 120 hectares of oranges in the villages of Xiangtanggou (响 堂 沟村) and Xiadianzi (下 店 子 村), 500 hectares of walnuts created in the village of Yucheng (禹城 村). The G42 motorway from Shanghai to Chengdu runs through the large community.
