The China Resources Breweries Limited (also Snow Breweries ) is a brewery group in the People's Republic of China , based in Hong Kong .

history

Founded in 1994, the brewery was a joint venture between the conglomerate China Resources Enterprise (51%) and the multinational brewery group SABMiller (49%). China Resources Breweries is one of the largest brewing companies in China and worldwide. In 2016 the group produced 118 million hectoliters of beer. Several subsidiary breweries belong to the group. These include the largest Chinese brewery, China Resources Snow Brewery (CR Snow for short), which in turn owns dozen of smaller breweries in the country and whose brand “Snow” (雪花 啤酒) is the world's most popular beer by volume (as of 2013). However, most of it is sold on the Chinese domestic market.

As part of the planned takeover of SABMillers by AB InBev , SABMiller sold its shares in the brewery group to co-owner China Resources Enterprise for 1.6 billion US dollars .
