Tschynggys Aidarbekow ( Kyrgyz Чыңгыз Айдарбеков ; born October 27, 1977 in Bishkek , Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic ) is a Kyrgyz politician and acting Foreign Minister of the Central Asian state.

Career

Aidarbekow was born in Bishkek in 1977 . His grandfather was the Kyrgyz politician Imanali Aidarbekow . Tschynggys Aidarbekow studied at the International University of Kyrgyzstan and graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor in International Relations . In 1998 he started his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and worked there until 2005. In 2005 he became the Kyrgyz ambassador to the neighboring country of Uzbekistan . In this position he worked until 2008. He was then head of the Department for Multilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a few months before he was sent to Turkmenistan as ambassador .

In 2010 he returned to Kyrgyzstan and worked in Bishkek as Deputy Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration. From 2012 he worked as head of the international relations department until he was sent to Japan as the ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2016 . In October 2018 it was announced that Muchammedkaly Abylgaziyev , the incumbent Kyrgyz Prime Minister, had nominated Chynggys Aidarbekov as the new Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan. On October 18, the Kyrgyz parliament voted on the appointment of Aidarbekov as foreign minister and supported it unanimously. Aidarbekov then officially took office as the successor to Erlan Abdyldayev , who had submitted his resignation on October 12.

Shortly after his appointment as Foreign Minister, Aidarbekov made his first trip abroad to Russia . On October 26, he met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow for working talks .

On September 26, 2019, Aidarbekov gave a speech at a debate of the United Nations Security Council , which was also attended by the foreign ministers of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization . He emphasized the commitment of Kyrgyzstan in the field of counter-terrorism and called on the United Nations to take on a coordinating role in the global fight against terrorism. In addition, Aidarbekov was involved in the diplomatic preparations and discussions around the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Bishkek in June 2019.
