Chiplun is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra .

The city is part of the Ratnagiri district . Chiplun has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 24 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had a total of 55,139 inhabitants, of which 27,355 were men and 27,784 women. Hindus form the largest group of the city's population with a share of over 67%, followed by Muslims with over 27%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 93.92%, well above the national average.

The city of Chiplun is the economic and commercial center of the Ratnagiri district. The city is connected to National Highway 66 and State Highway 78.
