The Chiswick Bridge is a road bridge over the River Thames in London . It connects the district of Chiswick in the district of London Borough of Hounslow on the northeast side with the district of Mortlake in the district of London Borough of Richmond upon Thames on the southwest side. The main road A316 leads over the bridge.

The bridge designed by Herbert Baker is 185 meters long and 21.3 meters wide. It is made of reinforced concrete and is clad with Portland stone . The five arches of the bridge have the following lengths: 18.59 m - 38.1 m - 45.72 m - 38.1 m - 18.59 m.

Construction began in September 1930, with the official opening by the Prince of Wales , later King Edward VIII , on July 3, 1933.

A few meters downstream is the finish line of the Boat Race , the traditional rowing regatta between the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge .
