Chitalu Chilufya

Chitalu Chilufya (born July 15, 1972 ) is a Zambian politician of the Patriotic Front (PF).

Life

Chilufya first completed a degree in medicine , which he completed with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and a Master of Science (M.Sc.). He completed another postgraduate course in management with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), while he completed another postgraduate course in public health with a Master of Public Health (M.Sc. Public Health). He worked as a doctor and was elected for the first time as a member of the National Assembly of Zambia in 2013 in a by-election as a candidate for the Patriotic Front (PF) in the constituency of Mansa Central . In February 2015, he became Vice Minister of Health.

After his re-election on August 11, 2016 in the Mansa Central constituency , President Edgar Lungu appointed him to his cabinet as the successor to Joseph Kasonde as Minister of Health .

He was arrested on June 24, 2020 on charges of corruption .
