Coordinates: 31 ° 23 ′ S , 116 ° 5 ′ E The Shire of Chittering is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 1222 km² and has almost 5500 inhabitants (2016).
Chittering is located in the northwest of the state about 65 kilometers northeast of the capital Perth . The headquarters of the Shire Council is in the village of Bindoon, which is home to almost 1200 residents (2016).

The Chittering Council has seven members. They are elected by all residents of the Shire. Chittering is not divided into districts. The chairman of the council (Shire President) is also recruited from among the councilors.
