Chitungwiza

Chitungwiza is a young city at an altitude of about 1,500 m, nine kilometers south of Harare in Zimbabwe and belongs to the Harare Province . It was merged in 1981 from the three suburbs (townships) Seke, Zengeza and St Marys and is with 356,840 inhabitants (2012 census) the third largest and one of the fastest growing cities in the country.

Chitungwiza is a "dormitory town" of Harare. Most of the people living here work in the capital. There are hospitals, schools and infrastructure, with comprehensive care being provided through downtown Harare.

Between Chitungwiza and Epworth lies Airport Harare .

Chitungwiza is a stronghold of the MDC ( Movement for Democratic Change ).
