Chivilcoy is a city with 60,762 inhabitants (2001, INDEC ) in the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina .
It was founded 150 years ago and is about 180 kilometers from Buenos Aires. Since Italian immigrants settled there quickly , almost all surnames of the residents are of Italian origin to this day.
The famous Argentine writer Julio Cortázar lived and worked in Chivilcoy from 1939 to 1944, among other things he was a Spanish teacher at the school in Chivilcoy.
Another peculiarity is that Chivilcoy is the only city in Argentina that has only one diagonal street and otherwise consists of square blocks and parks.
Chivilcoy is twinned with the Italian city of Menfi and Bogliasco .
