Chizarira National Park is located in the northwest of Zimbabwe in the Matabeleland North Province , where it borders the Hwange National Park , the Victoria Falls , the Zambezi and the uppermost part of the Kariba Reservoir.

The park, with the subsequent Chete and Chirisa safari parks, covers over 192,000 hectares, has been a protected area with a hunting ban since 1938, an animal protection area since 1963 and a national park since 1975. Its area is a mixture of dense forest, floodplains and the Tundazi mountains. It is the least developed and developed national park in the country, which only real nature lovers visit, who are not afraid of dusty dirt roads, tents and sleeping bags. This park is practically undeveloped. Reservations must be made at the National Park Office in Harare and the visit itself is only allowed with a guide. In addition to some extremely rudimentary accommodations, there is also the Kazwizi Camp with running water, showers and toilets and the exclusive Chizaria Wilderness Lodge on the outskirts , but in such a large area it disappears. The park is pure and probably not complete in the direction of the Binga wilderness mapped in detail. The terrain slopes down to the Zambezi 600 m and is characterized by Mopane bushland. Rivers like Mcheni and Lwizikululu have dug deep ravines. The southern border of the park is formed by the Busi River with its meadows and acacia forests ( Acacia albida ).

At the front part of the park towards Gokwe lies Chirisa and the Karibastausee Chete, both safari areas for hunting tourists. The corresponding lodges and accommodations are available there.
