Choi Suchol (born May 13, 1958 in Ch'unchon , Kangwondo ) is a South Korean writer .

Life

Choi Suchol was on May 13, 1958 Ch'unch'ŏn in the province of Kangwon born. He studied French literature at Seoul National University . Since 1997 he has been a professor of creative writing at Hanshin University . He made his debut in Chosun Ilbo in 1981 when he won a competition with Blinder Fleck ( 맹점 ).

Choi Suchol's style is seen as modern as it does not follow conventional structures such as the order of cause and effect. He delves into the border area between consciousness and subconsciousness and pays just as much attention to the language and writing style used as to the content itself. Choi Suchol poses fundamental philosophical questions about the self and about what is perceived outside of it, such as sensitivity and perception affect consciousness or how perception and memories are represented through language.
