Choi Young-jin (born March 29, 1948 in Seoul , South Korea ) is a South Korean diplomat . From October 2007 he was the special representative of the UN in the Ivory Coast and headed the United Nations operation in the Ivory Coast (ONUCI). In March 2012, he was appointed his country's ambassador to the United States . From 2005 to 2007, Choi was the permanent representative of South Korea to the United Nations.
