Chongqing Changan Suzuki Automobile is an automobile manufacturer from the People's Republic of China . Deviating from this, the company name Changan-Suzuki Automobile has also been handed down.

Company history

The company was founded on May 25, 1993 in Chongqing . At first it was a joint venture . Chongqing Changan Automobile Company held 51%, Suzuki 35% and Nissho Iwai of Japan the remaining 14%. In 1993 or 1995 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was either Changan or Suzuki, possibly also composed of Changan Suzuki . However, the spelling Chang'an with an apostrophe is also known. In the annual reports of the group at the end of 2010 and the end of 2013, the 51% was confirmed, but only 50% was stated for the end of 2014, end of 2015 and end of 2016.

In 2018, the group took over the company completely. It now manufactures Suzuki vehicles under license , which are marketed as Suzuki.

The first models were based on the Suzuki Alto , from 2000 also on the basis of the Suzuki Swift and from 2010 also on the basis of the Suzuki Splash .

In 2000 the company produced 48,235 vehicles. For the four following years 43,123, 67,846, 102,083 and 107,337 vehicles have been delivered. In the years from 2005 to 2007 the company produced 93,522, 117,171 and 107,621 vehicles. For 2009 150,069 vehicles are named.
