Chris Law (born October 21, 1969 ) is a Scottish politician of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Life

Law once ran a company that offered motorcycle tours in the Himalayas on vehicles from the 1950s. In Dundee , he worked as a self-employed financial advisor. Law became known for his campaign called Spirit of Independence in the run-up to the referendum on Scottish independence in 2014 . He drove through Scotland in his historic fire truck of the type Green Goddess , which used to be colored green and which was now painted blue and had the words "Vote Yes" on it, and campaigned for Scottish independence.

Political career

In the 2015 British general election , Law ran for the SNP in his home constituency of Dundee West . He competed against the Labor candidate Michael Marra , who succeeded the outgoing Jim McGovern . After the SNP gained massive votes in these elections, Law achieved the highest percentage of votes with 61.9% and subsequently moved into the British House of Commons for the first time . He is a member of the Scottish Affairs Committee there. Despite losing votes, Law maintained his mandate in the 2017 early general election .
