Chris Lennie, Baron Lennie

Christopher John Lennie, Baron Lennie (born February 22, 1953 ) is a British politician.

Life

Chris Lennie spent most of his childhood in Kent before moving to Newcastle upon Tyne to study history and English literature. After graduating in 1976, he worked in an agency before starting his career as a politician.

He was National Campaigns Manager for a union until he was appointed under Prime Minister Tony Blair in 1999 to build and manage the newly created Northern Region of the Labor Party . From 2001 he was Deputy Secretary General of the Labor Party .

He lives with his partner Anne, with whom he has two children, mostly in his family's home in north east England, interrupted by short stays in Bristol , Glasgow and London .

On September 22, 2014, he was named Life Peer as Baron Lennie , of Longsands Tynemouth in the County of Tyne and Wear .
