Chris Morton

Chris Morton MBE (born July 22, 1956 in Davyhulme , Lancashire ) is a former British speedway and long-track driver.

career

He was team world champion with Great Britain in 1980 , won the Best Pairs World Championship in Lonigo , Italy with compatriot Peter Collins in 1984 , was six times in the long-track World Championship final and seven times in the Speedway World Championship final. He started his career at Ellesmere Port in 1973, but then moved to the Belle Vue Aces and retired in 1990. In 1992 Morton was awarded the MBE medal by Elizabeth II for his services to and for the British speedways sport . His brother Dave was also a successful speedway driver.
