Lonigo is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 16,431 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Vicenza in Veneto . Lonigo or the district of Bagnolo is located on the Guà. The municipality borders the province of Verona . The municipality is located about 30 kilometers east of Verona and 30 kilometers southwest of Vicenza .

history

The name of the municipality comes from the Roman family Leonici Flavii . Already in the 10th century the place was called castro leunico and mentioned in a document. In the following centuries, the places in the area were under the rule of the City of Padua and the Republic of Venice .
