Piovene Rocchette is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1392 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Vicenza in Veneto . The municipality is located about 25 kilometers north-northwest of Vicenza at the foot of Monte Summano . The Astico flows through Piovene Rocchette .

The A31 della Valdastico autostrada , the Vicenzas tangential, ends at Piovene Rocchette . The narrow-gauge railways that led from Rocchette towards Schio , Arsiero and Asiago have all been closed since the 1950s. The (standard gauge) connection to Thiene was shut down in 1964.

Trivia

With the Peugeot Type 3 , Italy's first automobile was registered in Piovene Rocchette on Gaetano Rossi in 1893. The ascent from Piovene Rocchette to Monte Summano is a pilgrimage to the mountain sanctuary on the mountain plateau.
