The Christmas tree stand museum is located in the half-timbered building of the former town hall in the Lienzingen district in the town of Mühlacker in Germany. It houses around 350 exhibits in the permanent exhibition and has a total of around 1300 Christmas tree stands as exhibits from different epochs and in a variety of designs, with which special exhibitions are realized.

The city of Mühlacker assumes that it is the first and only Christmas tree stand museum in the world.

history

The collection has been compiled by Heidi Schwarz (* 1941) since 1999 and donated to the city of Mühlacker in 2019.

The Christmas Tree Stand Museum opened on November 22, 2019. The symbolic handover of the exhibits to Lord Mayor Frank Schneider by the collector also took place on this day .

collection

The oldest pieces on Christmas tree stands date from the middle of the 19th century. Mostly designed quite simply from wood. Most of the approximately 1,300 exhibits are made of cast iron and date from the Art Nouveau period and were made in Germany, approx. 30 exhibits come from the USA . The value of the collection is over 100,000 euros. The most expensive piece in the collection is equipped with a music box and was bought by the collector Heidi Schwarz for 4,000 euros.

Visitors to the museum can access more information about the individual exhibits using tablets on the walls.

opening hours

The Christmas tree stand museum is open differently depending on the season. As a rule, it is open on Sunday afternoons. Otherwise as required and for special exhibitions as well as according to seasonal factors (e.g. before Christmas ). The museum is closed in August. Guided tours are possible as required.
