Christel Hornstein

Christel Hornstein (* 1954 in Lutherstadt Eisleben ) is a German journalist, social scientist and, since 2000, equal opportunities officer at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

Life

Hornstein completed a journalistic training and then worked in this field for several years. She later did her doctorate in Wuppertal and was the spokesperson for the Equal Opportunities Commission in the Department of Architecture in 1998 and 1999. In 2000 she became the Equal Opportunities Officer of the Bergische Universität and in 2001 she became the chairwoman of the University's Equal Opportunities Commission. Until 2002 she was represented in the Senate for four years. Until 2003 she was a member of the evaluation committee of the architecture department.

Outside of the university, she was the spokesperson for the North Rhine-Westphalian state conference of equal opportunities officers at universities, or LaKoF for short, from 2001 to 2003. Since 2012 she has been working as an expert in the "Center for Competence Development for Diversity Management in Studies and Teaching at Universities in North Rhine-Westphalia" (KomDiM) and since 2013 as a transfer agent in the EU project "GenderTime".

As the university’s equal opportunities officer , Hornstein is also the editor of the local gender equality magazine magazIN .
