Christian Adolf Lenk , actually Christian Adolph Lenk , (born April 13, 1801 in Zschorlau ; † November 8, 1879 in Johanngeorgenstadt ) was a German deacon and Protestant pastor . He is an honorary citizen of Johanngeorgenstadt.

Life

Lenk came from the Erzgebirge village of Zschorlau. In 1827 he became a deacon and in 1845 a Protestant pastor of Johanngeorgenstadt. As such, he experienced the destruction of his place of work by a devastating fire on August 19, 1867. He took an active part in the reconstruction of the religious buildings, in particular the town church of Johanngeorgenstadt.

Merit

During the great fire of Johanngeorgenstadt in 1867, which also burned down the church and the rectory, Christian Adolf Lenk lost all of his belongings because he had saved all of the town's church registers from the flames since 1654. Due to the selfless intervention of Pastor Lenk, Johanngeorgenstadt has had complete access to all church registers since the city was founded. Therefore, Lenk was made an honorary citizen of Johanngeorgenstadt in 1878. He died a year later and was buried on November 12, 1879 in the local cemetery. His grave is still preserved today.
