from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christian Afrikaner , actually ǀHaragab , (* around 1820 in Windhoek ; † 1863 near Otjimbingwe ) was the eldest son of the Orlam -Afrikaner- captain Jonker Afrikaner ( ǀHara-mûb ) and as such his legitimate successor after Jonker died in Okahandja in 1861 was.

He was thus in competition with his half-brother Jan Jonker Afrikaner ( ǀHaramumab ), who was also striving for the title of chief and who also had long-standing friendly relations with the new Herero chief Maharero . The resulting tensions led in 1863 to a failed attack by Christian Afrikaner on Maharero near Otjimbingwe. Christian Afrikaner was killed in the process. The Africans then appointed Jan Jonker Afrikaner as their captain.
