Christian Bachmann (born July 3, 1953 ; resident in Elgg ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Christian Bachmann attended elementary school and grammar school in Langenthal . He completed his subsequent studies in history and sport at the University of Bern with a higher teaching degree. From 1980 to 1992 he taught history and sports at the German Gymnasium in Biel and from 1993 to 1997 at the Swiss school in Barcelona . From 1998 until his retirement in 2016, he taught at the Biel seminar, later at the Linde grammar school and finally at the Biel-Seeland grammar school . Christian Bachmann lives in Nidau . He is married and has two children.

politics

Bachmann was elected to the city council (legislature) of Nidau ​​in 1998. In 2002 he was elected to the municipal council (executive), where he headed the social services department until 2010 and the finance department from 2010 to 2017. From 2014 to 2017, Bachmann was also Vice-Mayor of Nidau. In 2013, Bachmann was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern , where he has since been a member of the editorial commission and the commission for state policy and external relations. Christian Bachmann is a board member of the SP Nidau ​​and vice-president of the Mittelland section of the Casafair association.
