Christian Bassemir

Christian Bassemir (born March 13, 1956 in Bad Peterstal ) is a former German hockey player and Olympic participant in 1984.

The goalkeeper Christian Bassemir won the German field hockey championship with HC Heidelberg in 1982.

Bassemir made his debut in 1976 in the German national hockey team . His first major success was winning the European Indoor Championships in 1980. At the 1981/1982 World Championships in Bombay, the German team reached the final, where they lost 1: 3 to the Pakistani selection. After bronze at the 1983 European Championships and gold at the 1984 European Indoor Championships, he went to the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles as the goalkeeper of the German team . In the final, the German team faced the Pakistani team again. After regular time ended 1-1, Pakistan made it 2-1 in extra time.

The doctor of medicine works today as an orthopedic surgeon in Bruchsal. Since 2004 he has also been a member of the expert committee of the German Sports Aid Foundation .
