Christian Bauer (film producer)

Christian Bauer (born September 9, 1947 , † July 27, 2009 in Munich ) was a German documentary filmmaker and film producer .

After studying at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , Bauer taught German and English at a grammar school for several years; he then worked as a journalist, including writing film reviews for the Süddeutsche Zeitung .

In 1980 he founded the film production company “Kick Film” in Munich with Jörg Bundschuh and after leaving this company in 1989, he founded “Tangram Christian Bauer Filmproduktion”.

Bauer led around sixty documentaries directed and received in 1993 for the film Under German roofs : The Ami go home with Jörg Hube the Adolf Grimme Prize with bronze. His film "Missing Allen" (2001) won several awards for Best Documentary and his 2004 documentary " The Ritchie Boys " was shortlisted for an Oscar in 2005 .
