from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christian Ernst Fidelinus was a German novelist of the 18th century.

Fidelinus, whose biographical details are not known, is the possibly pseudonymous author of two novels distributed around the middle of the 18th century at the exhibition centers in Frankfurt am Main and Leipzig , both of which follow well-known (baroque) models. In 1753 Die Böhmische Robinsonin appeared , a robinsonade with a female heroine, and in the following year Die Engeländische Banise, or incidents of the Princess of Sussex , which referred to the model of Ziegler's Asiatic Banise or The bloody but courageous Pegu from 1689 and retold them Action moved to 10th century England.

He belongs to a group of authors who refer to the authoritative role models "from the previous seculo", see their main task in depicting "virtue in a very graceful and lovable way" and at the same time verbally differentiate themselves from contemporary gallant literature.

Accordingly, Fidelinus expresses himself extremely praising Ziegler's Banise , “which contains so many clever and political rules and state maxims that I am not ashamed to confess that I am in those An. 1726 edirten six hundred political rules and state maxims the most from this incomparablen Banise first part took. "The work referred to is titled Six hundred Auserlesene Christian Political rules and appeared under the pseudonym Johanes Sperante that elsewhere by Johann Zacharias Gleichmann used . Florian Gelzer therefore suggests that the otherwise unknown author Fidelius is identical to Johann Zacharias Gleichmann, who died in 1758.
