Christian Gottfried Whistling

Christian Gottfried Whistling (born January 26, 1748 in Hartmannsdorf near Chemnitz , † October 29, 1807 in Merseburg ) was a German doctor, pharmacist and farmer.

Life

Whistling studied medicine at the University of Jena , where he in 1778 at Ernst Anton Nicolai to Dr. med. received his doctorate. From 1782 he worked as an official physician in the town of Kelbra for twelve years. In 1794 he took over the court pharmacy in Altenburg and last worked in Merseburg .

He was a member of numerous academic societies. Of particular importance is his four-volume economic plant science , which was a standard work for a long time.

family

Whistling is the father of music publisher and music bibliographer Carl Friedrich Whistling .
