Christian Gotthard Hirsch

Christian Gotthard Hirsch (born September 20, 1889 in Breslau , † 1977 in Höchenschwand ) was a German painter and artist .

Life

Hirsch came from a well-known family of artists in Breslau. After a bank apprenticeship, he began studying with Siegfried Haertel in Breslau and at the Berlin University of Fine Arts with Georg Koch.

Due to the expulsion and after the loss of about 150 pictures from home, he moved to Höchenschwand, where he resumed his work as a landscape painter. Here he mainly painted the views of the Alpine chain.

After the death of his widow Margarethe in 1987, his more than 200 works and his house in Haldenweg 6 went to the community of Höchenschwand, which set up an art museum there.

Christian-Gotthard-Hirsch-Straße in Höchenschwand bears his name.
