Sina Heffner (born January 12, 1980 in Bielefeld ) is a German sculptor.

Life

Sina Heffner studied art between 1998 and 2004 at the Braunschweig University of Art with Hartmut Neumann and Thomas Virnich . In 2005 she was a master class student with Thomas Virnich. She is currently an artistic assistant at Folke Köbberling at the Institute for Architectural Art at the TU Braunschweig .

In 2006 she was a graduate student with Vera Bourgeois and later an artistic assistant with Azade Köker at the Institute for Architecture-Related Art at the TU Braunschweig .

In 2008 she received the Gustav Weidanz Prize for Sculpture from the Burg Giebichenstein Art College in Halle .

Works

The starting point for Heffner's sculptural work is primarily nature, especially the animal world. She creates sculptures and installations that blow up space and move the viewer to deal with light, shadow, form and space. Often she reduces the form to the bare minimum. She analyzes, abstracts and reduces in order to experiment with unorthodox, simple and diverse materials such as wood , wire , paper , plastic and latex.
