from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christian Holz-Rau (born 1956 ) is a German transport scientist . Since 1998 he has been a professor in the Department of Transport and Transport Planning at the Faculty of Spatial Planning at TU Dortmund University .

Life

After finishing school with a university entrance qualification, Christian Holz-Rau studied transport at the TU Berlin from 1975 to 1984 . After graduating as a graduate engineer, he stayed at the TU Berlin until 1996, initially as a research assistant in the Department of Integrated Transport Planning there. After receiving his doctorate in 1990, he worked as a research assistant in the department for another six years, which he completed in 1996 with a habilitation . At the same time, from 1990 he was a partner in the office for integrated planning - BiP . In 1998 he succeeded Paul Baron in the field of transport and transport planning at the Faculty of Spatial Planning at TU Dortmund University.

Scientific work

His research focuses on mobility research , in particular on traffic behavior and the choice of location, as well as topics related to integrated traffic planning . This involves concepts that encompass all modes of transport as well as concepts for individual modes of transport in the environmental network (public transport, cycling and walking).

In teaching, Holz-Rau represents similar subject areas, in particular he imparts knowledge to the students of the Dortmund spatial planning course on the corresponding social, political, economic and ecological processes that determine traffic. In addition, spatial and planning science methods are imparted, and constellations of actors and planning levels and their influences on planning processes are examined.
