Christian Köpke (born June 14, 1984 in Munich ) is a German chess player who holds the FIDE title of International Master .

Life

After graduating from high school in Munich-Moosach in 2003, Köpke did community service . In 2004 he began studying media informatics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , which he completed in 2011. Today he works as a software developer and lives with his wife Elena (née Lewuschkina) in Munich.

successes

At the age of six, Köpke learned to play chess from his father. After his first positions at SK Obermenzing and the Munich SC 1836 , he joined SC Pasing in 1997. There he celebrated his first major successes at youth level, including as a Bavarian individual champion in the U 16 age group in 2000.

From 2002 to 2012 he was active for SK Tarrasch Munich, where he was Bavarian champion and German runner-up in 2004 with the U20 team. As a member of the first team, he became Bavarian champion in 2008 and then played in the 2nd Bundesliga chess until 2012 . At the German individual championships in 2006 in Osterburg (Altmark) , Köpke achieved his first IM standard. At the same time, he improved his Elo rating to over 2300 points at this tournament , which enabled him to carry the title of FIDE Master . He achieved the second and third IM norm in 2008 at the European individual championship in Plovdiv and at the Czech Open in Pardubice . In March 2009 he was named International Master on the condition that he achieved an Elo rating of at least 2400. He succeeded in doing this in July 2011, so that he has held the title of International Master since then. Köpke has been playing for SC Garching since July 2012, currently (2014/15 season) in the Bayern Oberliga. He has also been active in Austria for SK Kufstein since 2010, meanwhile in the 1st , currently (2014/15 season) in the 2nd Bundesliga . In 2011 he was with the team of SK Kufstein on the first board winner in the 2nd Bundesliga West.

Others

Köpke also worked as a trainer in the youth field.
