Christian Lotichius

Christian Lotichius (* around 1530 in Niederzell - Schlüchtern ; † September 20, 1568 in Schlüchtern) was the coadjutor (deputy) of the abbot and nephew of the reformer of the Schlüchtern monastery , Petrus Lotichius . He was the brother of the famous poet and scholar Petrus Lotichius Secundus .

Life

Christian Lotichius was the son of the monastery farmer Hans Lotz, a brother of the abbot of the Schlüchtern monastery, Petrus Lotichius.

Christian Lotichius studied from 1547 at the University of Heidelberg , where he received his master's degree in 1548 , then at the University of Wittenberg until at least 1555 . For pastor he was in 1558 ordained that convent school conducted in Schlüchtern and worked here as a pastor. The monastery had been Protestant since 1543, so he was able to marry Barbara Schulteiß, with whom he had three children. His grandson is the German humanist, physician, poet and historiographer Johann Peter Lotichius .

From 1563 Christian Lotichius was coadjutor (deputy) of his uncle, from 1567 until his death also coadjutor of Abbot Siegfried Hettenus (1524–1588).
