Christian Pedersen Horrebow

Christian Pedersen Horrebow (born April 15, 1718 in Copenhagen , † September 19, 1776 ) was a Danish astronomer and solar researcher of the 18th century. He was the son of Peder Nielsen Horrebow , whom he succeeded as director of the observatory at the University of Copenhagen , which was then based in Rundetårn . In 1768/69 he was the rector of the university.

Neith , a putative moon of Venus , was sighted by Christian Horrebow while studying the passage of this planet from 1766 to 1768. He also discovered the periodicity of sunspots .

On October 25, 1754, he married Anna Barbara Long Horn (1735-1812).
