Christian Saehrendt

Christian Saehrendt (born January 29, 1968 in Kassel ) is a German art historian and publicist.

Life

Christian Saehrendt studied fine art at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts , then contemporary history and European art history at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . In 2002 he received his doctorate there with a thesis on the expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner . He lives in Thun today . Since 1989 he has been working with Steen T. Kittl , among others . Since 2007, both have written seven popular science monographs together . In addition to popular science literature, Saehrendt also writes art studies. His work focuses on the cultural history of the 20th century, art sociology , political art and popular science art education in the field of contemporary art . Independently and in cooperation with universities and research institutions, he worked on foreign cultural policy , political monuments (sculpture and architecture) and on the artist group “Die Brücke” .
