Christian Schumann (Mayor)

Christian Schumann (born January 18, 1604 in Annaberg ; † July 17, 1661 in Dresden ) was a Dresden councilor and mayor .

Schumann is mentioned for the first time as a member of the Dresden Council in 1640 and is mentioned as a scribe, which suggests an academic education. In 1653 he took over the office of mayor of Dresden for the first time and held this position, alternating three years, until 1659. He died on July 17, 1661 in Dresden and was buried in the choir of the old Frauenkirche .
