Christian Seidl (journalist)

Christian Seidl (born December 30, 1964 in Bamberg ) is a German journalist , author and translator . He is the younger brother of Claudius Seidl .

Life

Seidl grew up in Würzburg, where he graduated from high school in 1984. He studied communication science and American studies at the University of Munich and graduated from the German School of Journalism.

Seidl began his journalistic career in the late 1980s as a freelance music critic and cultural reporter for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and the Spiegel . In 1994 he became editor of the SZ supplement “Jetzt”. In 1996 he moved to Stern , in 1999 to the weekly newspaper Die Woche . In 2000 he returned to Jetzt magazine as editor-in-chief. After he was hired in 2002, Seidl worked in various editorial teams as an author and text editor, including the German-language edition of Vanity Fair, which was published from 2007 to 2009 . In January 2010 he was the responsible editor in the People & Culture department of Bild am Sonntag . Most recently he was one of the program developers at the Red Bull Media House at Benevento Publishing and is currently the story team leader at the Berliner Zeitung and Berliner Kurier .

In his texts, books and translations, Seidl deals primarily with British pop and youth culture. He has accompanied the band Oasis from the very beginning. He is a regular member of the “Soundcheck” pop critics group at Radio Eins .

Seidl lives in Berlin.
