Christian Sprenger (composer)

Christian Sprenger (* 1976 in Marburg ) is a German composer , trombonist and publisher in the field of brass music .

Life

He gained his first musical experience at the age of 9 in his father's trombone choir . From 1993 he received lessons from Dr. Hoch's Conservatory in Frankfurt am Main. A few months later he switched to Reinhard Nietert as a young student at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts . During this time the successful participation in various youth music competitions also fell. a. he emerged as the national winner at Jugend musiziert in Fürth in 1995. Sprenger began studying music at the Freiburg University of Music in 1997 with Branimir Slokar . He also organized more concerts with his own compositions and arrangements for brass.

In the middle of his studies with Slokar, Christian Sprenger got the job of solo trombonist at the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra in May 2000 . This was followed by teaching positions as a lecturer for trombone and brass chamber music at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg . In 2003 he founded the brass ensemble genesis brass , for which he works as artistic director as well as arranger and composer. In 2007 he released the CD Hymnus - Lutheran Choralfantasies together with genesis brass . In the meantime, Christian Sprenger is also increasingly active as an arranger and composer in the field of trombone choir music.

In December 2009 he was appointed professor for trombone at the Liszt School of Music Weimar .

Private

Christian Sprenger is the brother of Anne Weckeßer , who also composes pieces for trombone choirs.
