Christian Stewens (* before 1956 ) is a former German rowing athlete .

Career

Christian Stewens has been a member of the Essen gymnastics and fencing club since his early youth, and his sporting career took place in its rowing department. His sporting disciplines within rowing were the four with and without a helmsman and the two without a helmsman . In accordance with his achievements, he was used in both national and international competitions. He achieved his first major success in 1956 in the four without a helmsman with the line-up of Wilhelm Montag, Horst Stobbe, Stewens, Fitze when his team took 1st place at the German Rowing Championships and thus won a gold medal. At the German Championships in Berlin in 1957, he and his team repeated this success , but with Gunther Kaschlun in place of Fitze.

In the same year his team (Kaschlun, Montag, Stobbe and he) won the gold medal in the four without a helmsman at the European championships in Duisburg . In 1960 he, Gunther Kaschlun and Gudert came second at the German championships in two with helmsman and received the silver medal.

In 1958, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for winning the European Championships .
