Christiane Liermann

Christiane Liermann Traniello (* 1960 in Bonn ) is a German historian and Romance scholar .

Life

Liermann studied history, philosophy and Romance studies (Italian) in Bonn , Siena , Karlsruhe and Zurich . She received her doctorate from Bernd Roeck at the University of Zurich with a thesis on the political thinking of the philosopher-theologian Antonio Rosmini . She also translated his “Philosophy of Politics” into German. The Konrad Adenauer Foundation sponsored the study with a doctoral grant. From December 1995 she worked as a research assistant at the German-Italian Center for European Excellence, Villa Vigoni . She has been Secretary General there since October 2018.

Liermann is on the editorial board of Contemporanea magazine . Rivista di Storia dell'800 e del '900 .

Liermann researches Antonio Rosmini's philosophical work. Another focus of the work is the political and cultural relations between Italy and Germany with special consideration of religious and confessional issues.
