Christiane Riedel (born October 7, 1962 in Karlsruhe ) is a managing director of the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe.

Life

Christiane Riedel studied art history , architectural history and literary studies with a focus on "Art from the 20th Century to the Present" at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) and the University of Hamburg .

From 1992 she was managing director of the German Werkbund Baden-Württemberg. In 1997 she took over the management of the Lower Saxony Research Association for Women and Gender Studies in Natural Sciences, Technology and Medicine (NFFG), a research funding institution of the State of Lower Saxony to strengthen interdisciplinary research and gender studies, based at Leibnitz University in Hanover .

Christiane Riedel has been managing director since 2002, then managing director of the Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe together with the artistic-scientific director Peter Weibel .

In addition, she has been teaching art and culture management at Karlshochschule International University since 2009, and has been an honorary professor since 2012 . She has been a member of the University Council of the State University of Design in Karlsruhe since 2015, and chairwoman of the University Council since 2016.
