Christine Gerber

Christine Gerber (* 1963 in Hamburg ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Gerber comes from a pastor's family in Hamburg. From 1982 to 1989 she studied Protestant theology, at times also philosophy, in Tübingen, Jerusalem and Munich. She passed her first theological exam in Hamburg. From 1990 to 1994 she was a research assistant in the New Testament subject at the Church University of Berlin and the LMU Munich , where she received her doctorate in 1996 . In the New Testament subject, she was an assistant at the HU Berlin from 1996 to 2005 , where she completed her habilitation in 2005 . After a substitute chair (2005–2007) at the University of Hamburg, she was appointed professor for the New Testament there in 2007. In the 2020 summer semester, she will switch to a professorship for the New Testament at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Her main research interests are Paulus , the Paulusschule, Hellenistic Judaism ( Flavius ​​Josephus ), exegesis under the gender aspect and feminist theologies and methodological questions.

During the 2017 revision of the Luther Bible, she worked on the text version of 2 Corinthians , Ephesians and Colossians . She is married to the Hamburg pastor Martin Vetter and has three children.
