Christine Graf

Christine Graf , born as Christine Rost (* 1967 in Würzburg ) is a German sports medicine specialist and university professor .

Life

Graf, daughter of the sports physician Richard Rost , studied after 1986 in Cologne passed High School until 1993 medicine at the University of Cologne . In 1995 her doctoral thesis on "The importance of cardiac and peripheral lymphocytic β-adrenoceptors for the mediation of training-related adaptations" was accepted. Graf completed her internship as a doctor in 1993 and 1994 in internal medicine at the Martha Maria Hospital in Nuremberg . As an intern and assistant doctor, she worked in the cardiology department of the Cologne University Clinics in 1994 and 1995. From 1996 Graf held a position as a research assistant at the Institute for Circulatory Research and Sports Medicine at the German Sport University Cologne . In 2002 she became a research assistant or senior physician at the Institute for Cardiovascular Research and Sports Medicine.

In 2006 Graf completed her habilitation on the subject of "Sedentary lifestyle and obesity - interactions and therapeutic approaches". In 2008 Graf, who was appointed as an adjunct professor, took over the management of the Department of Exercise and Health Promotion at the Institute for Exercise and Neurosciences at the Sports University.

In 2006 Graf was awarded the “Obesity and Hypertension” science prize from the German Hypertension League and the first prize from the German Society for Internal Medicine “Prevention in Internal Medicine”. From 2006 to 2018 she was the chairwoman of the Sports Medical Association of North Rhine and in 2012 took up the post of Vice-President of the German Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention .

Graf's main research areas include overweight and obesity in children and adolescents, diabetes , aspects of movement, and cardiovascular and internal diseases. She revised and expanded the "Textbook Sports Medicine" published by her father and published the second edition in 2012. According to the Ärzteblatt, she brought "her father's life's work (...) to a climax".
