Christine Li

Christine Li (* 1960 in Offenbach ) is a German doctor specializing in traditional Chinese medicine and a writer .

Life

Christine Li studied Sinology, Ethnology, Human Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Berlin, Munich, Shanghai, Wuhan and Beijing.

In addition to her clinical work as a doctor and her work as a lecturer in Chinese medicine, Christine Li researches and writes primarily on topics related to the history of medicine. Her main interests are in the interdependencies between shamanism , Daoism , alchemy and medicine . In her book on Chinese andrology, The Shaman's Dance , fictional dialogues between the Chinese alchemist and polymath Ge Hong and his wife, the traditional doctor and alleged inventor of moxibustion , Bao Gu, are used as a stylistic device.

Li's books have appeared in Australia, France, Greece and Spain, among others.

Her latest project is a fantastic series of novels about a Chinese doctor and shaman from the Eastern Jin Dynasty .
