Christine Reeh

Christine Reeh-Peters (* 22. March 1974 in Frankfurt am Main as Christine Reeh ) is a German film director , Filmphilosophin and professor .

Life

Reeh-Peters has been junior professor for "Theory and Practice of Artistic Research in Digital Media" at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf in Potsdam since winter semester 2019/20. Associate member of the Centro de Filosofia of the FLUL - Faculdade de Letras, University of Lisbon. Research focuses on the connection between film and philosophy - particularly speculative realism and materialism, the work of Gilles Deleuze, the philosophy of Martin Heidegger and classical film theory.

Diploma in film directing (cinema) at the ESTC - Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in Lisbon (2002). MA (2007) and PhD (2017) in Aesthetics / Art Philosophy at the FLUL in Lisbon. The dissertation “The solaristic system” creates an ontology of the film based on Martin Heidegger and Andrei Tarkovskij. Reeh-Peters taught at the Peter Behrens School of Arts in Düsseldorf and at the State University of Design in Karlsruhe.

Christine Reeh-Peters is co-founder of the film production company CRIM Produçőes, based in Lisbon.

As a filmmaker, she experiments with the limits of reality and fiction. Her films convey a dreamlike character of reality and question social and cultural habits as well as common cinematic formats. She is the author and director of several documentaries as well as a film producer.
